    Rare 1910 Antique Figural Plaster Lamp Signed Petrucci Frères Brothers 19", Young Girl Smiling, Leaning on Light Post, Montreal, Tuscany

    Rare figural lamp signed Petrucci Frères (Brothers) number 961, hand sculpted around 1910 in Montreal, Quebec. Excellent condition, all original colors, rewired. Solid plaster, no cracks, no broken parts. Measures 19" tall (without the light bulb), has a 6 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches base with marking "Meditation". Beautiful little girl smiling and leaning on a light post bare feet, measures 14 inches tall on her own. In the early 1900's, Montreal was a fertile breeding ground for Tuscan craftsmen who took over Quebec's large demand for religious art (Carli and Petrucci workshops). Pierre (Pietro) Petrucci is the 5th and last generation of sculptors from Lucca, Tuscany. He lives in Montreal in "Le Plateau" area and is over 90 years old. His father Amato, uncle Nicolas and nonno Paolo founded the Atelier Petrucci Frères in 1908 after arriving to Montreal following stays in Marseilles, New York City and Boston (history source: Adam Zara, Panorama Magazine).
