    Antique 1858 William Allen Butler "Two Millions" Poem First Limited Edition 1500

    Rare first edition, 1500 copies, published by D. Appleton New York in 1858. Book is complete, covers have remarkable illustrations, pages are clean, no missing parts. From the Fraser Institute Library Book Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. William Allen Butler, an American lawyer and writer of poetical satires, wrote the Two Millions poem at the request of the Phi Beta Kappa Society of Yale College (see dedication page). First page of the book is signed by hand Lewis T. Drummond which may be Lewis Thomas Drummond, a famous Irish-Canadian Lawyer and Politician who lived 1813-1882 and was renowned for his defense of the Lower Canada Rebels in 1838. However signature has not been professionally authenticated.
